Join us to learn about D.C.’s Department of Energy and Environment’s new Building Energy Performance Standards that were set on January 1, 2021. We’ll discuss the structure of the legislation, how buildings are evaluated, and how buildings that do not meet the standard will need to comply. We’ll also discuss what this means for the lighting industry and how IES members can respond.

Dr. Sharon Jaye is a Climate Advisor for Buildings in the Bloomberg Philanthropies American Cities Climate Challenge with the Natural Resources Defense Council. For the past two years, she has been detailed to the District of Columbia’s Department of Energy and Environment to assist in the development of the building energy performance standards program. She has more than 15 years of sustainable facility management experience and holds a Sustainability Facility Professional credential from IFMA.
